but, what I am going to call "Blog Bites", or mini statements (sometimes
in the form of questions), about issues that crop up again and again with
clients or that I am made aware of in the outer world. Some of these Bites
are, what I would call, The Big Picture, or the larger, spiritual view of
situations and issues that we deal with all the time.
Bite 1- The issue: What does love in action, while "helping" others, really
look like?
"What do I do? My friend is severely depressed. She needs professional
help. Her father kicked her out and I let her live with me for a while. She
didn't have a job. Finally, her father let her move back in. A month went
by and then, she called me and said, her Dad caught her smoking when she
wasn't supposed to. He said she could stay if she paid a $200 dollar fine!
She wanted to know if I could loan her the money. She said she felt
suicidal. If I say no, I feel I am being a bad person."
Some people call it "Tough Love." I see it as a balanced action between
two people, the law of Karma, if you would. Each of us has lessons to
learn in this lifetime. Whether it is around self esteem, depression,
addiction, commitment or any of the other issues human beings face, we
each have our own individual lessons. We do "contract" with others to
assist us, as teachers, with these lessons. However, the wise "teacher"
never takes on the lesson of the "student". They never do the work for the
"student". The helper is only there to offer support, in the form of
information (how to learn) and then, and this is a critical piece, only to
those "students" who are truly interested in evolving.
Q: I go on but I don't know why. Every day the mental pain gets worse. I stress out badly despite
medication. Please help!
A: What if the answer was that this is the turning point in your life. What if the answer is that this is
the test you have to pass. What if the answer is that to pass this test, you must learn a different way
of thinking about yourself and what goes on around you? What if, by changing the way you think
about things you may change your experience. What if there is something very important you have to
accomplish in this world, but, you have to transform your inner being in order to do it??
Believe. Somehow, believe that there is goodness, and love, and magic in the world. What we think
and how we think makes what we feel and what is in and around us. This is absolute fact. Change
your thoughts and beliefs and you change your world.
The first place to start is to accept where you are right now. Stop fighting what has happened. This
shift has the ability to give you peace almost immediately. In the meantime, if you are on medication
go back to your Doctor and tell them they are not working.
You must make climbing out of the abyss your absolute focus and priority now. You must make
finding joy again, your goal. Anything I can do to help, please ask.
